Richmond’s health at risk
in vote on coal shipping

On Jan. 14, the Richmond City Council is set to vote on an ordinance to phase out coal and petroleum coke shipping through the Levin-Richmond Terminal over a period of three years.

With soot and grime from Levin-Richmond Terminal accumulating at my local business, I support this ordinance.

With the hollow threat of losing fewer than 100 jobs of highly skilled and employable construction workers, council members are being asked to sacrifice the health of our entire community. Why?
