Luxembourg is one of five countries to have agreed to take in the 82 migrants stranded at sea near the Italian island of Lampedusa, allowing them to disembark the Ocean Viking rescue ship, French interior minister Christophe Castaner has said.

Italy has previously stood firm in its decision to block migrant vessels from docking on Italian soil but the change in policy comes just days after the new coalition government took power.
